Concrete action

This is the point of departure for Rolf Widmer: every child who lives in a difficult situation should be given the chance to grow up in a stable and peaceful environment. To this end, a child needs above all a consistent and specific action which uncompromisingly puts in focus the child’s rights and needs. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is the framework whose implementation requires concrete actions on a daily basis otherwise the convention remains simply on paper and offers no real help to the child.

What might seem obvious and simple in fact means hard work and perseverence on a daily basis. This also means to constantly look after the children’s and adolescents’ interests against all odds, legal and bureaucratic hurdles and lack of political will as all these exist in all countries around the world.
